Il Medioevo è durato ben dieci secoli, dal 476 al 1492. La Liguria, dopo avere subito le occupazioni e le distruzioni di Goti, Bizantini e Longobardi, sviluppa quelle caratteristiche architettoniche, sociali, mercantili e di relazioni sociali che la portano alla Repubblica, detta “la Superba”. Conoscere lo “spirito ligure” di quegli anni è quindi importante per capirne le radici socioculturali di oggi e le sue caratteristiche. Il libro propone un viaggio tra borghi, castelli, torri e palazzi che dal Feudalesimo giunge al “nuovo mondo” di Cristoforo Colombo. Una ricerca sulle tracce, misteriose e leggendarie, di ciò che il Medioevo ha lasciato in questa “lingua di terra”. Una storia che oggi ci parla attraverso le testimonianze di edifici, opere d’arte e scritti che vengono fatti rivivere in queste pagine con mappe, foto e contenuti multimediali.

The Medieval period lasted ten centuries, from 476 to 1492. Having suffered occupation and destruction by the Goths, Byzantines and Lombards, Liguria developed the distinctive architecture, social and commercial relationships that led to the rise of the Republic, known as the “Superba” (the Proud). Understanding the “Ligurian spirit” of those times is therefore important for understanding the sociocultural roots of Liguria today and its characteristics. This book proposes a journey through villages, castles, towers and palaces that survived from the age of Feudalism to the “new world” of Christopher Columbus. A review of the traces, mysterious and legendary, that the Medieval period left in this “tongue of land”.
